The Leominster Board of Health posted a notice for a continued public hearing on an application from WIN Waste Innovations to raise the daily tonnage cap at its Tanzio Road facility from 1,000 to 1,500 tons, while keeping the annual limit the same.
The Leominster Board of Health has posted a notice for a continued public hearing on an application to modify the site assignment of an existing solid waste handling facility in the city, the Town of Leominster announced Oct. 20, 2026.
According to the notice, the board will hold the hearing at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19, 2026, in the City Council Chambers at Leominster City Hall, 25 West Street, under state law governing solid waste facility site assignments.
The application concerns the facility at 200 Tanzio Road. The applicant is WIN Waste Innovations of Northern New England, based at 90 Arboretum Drive, Suite 300, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The facility currently accepts materials from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
The proposed minor modification would raise the facility's maximum daily tonnage from 1,000 to 1,500 tons, while keeping the currently permitted annual limit of 300,000 tons per year, which equals an average of 1,000 tons per day, unchanged.
The notice states that copies of the site assignment application can be reviewed at the Leominster Health Department office, Room 11 at City Hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The office can be reached at 978-534-7533.
The deadline for submitting written comments to the Board of Health on the application was Oct. 12, 2026, according to the notice. It was signed by Michelle Powell, director of the Leominster Health Department.
