Board of Health reviews enforcement, transfer-station environmental studies

Board of Health · Meeting of January 14, 2026

LEOMINSTER — Board of Health reviews enforcement, environmental studies advancing major projects. Health Department Director Michelle Powell's team issued a cease-and-desist order against UV Tattoo at 210 Mechanic Street after an inspection found no heat, only one functional hot-water sink, and unsanitary conditions; the operator is relocating pending permit approval. The board reviewed environmental studies for United Materials Management's transfer station expansion, moving toward public hearing by end of March, with the final environmental impact report due by month's end.

The court order for Heritage Gardens fire victims' temporary housing was extended to January 31; eleven families remain temporarily housed, some at reduced rate at Great Wolf Resort, while repairs remain stalled.
