City Council approves $4.4 million in capital and operating spending

Leominster City Council backs $4.4 million capital and operating budget. The council voted overwhelmingly to approve Mayor Dean J. Mazzarella's appropriations package, including $1.3 million for capital accounts across 11 departments, $868,821.15 for water infrastructure, and $725,156.74 for sewer work.
All appropriations passed with near-unanimous votes, except a $50,000 paramedics overtime allocation that drew dissenting votes from Councilors Susan Chalifoux Zephir and Brandon L. Robbins. The council also granted a Special Permit to Pluto Cannabis Co.
Outlet to operate an adult-use marijuana facility at 130 Pioneer Drive and adopted zoning amendments regarding accessory apartments to align with state law.
