City Council defers municipal aggregation matter pending legal review
City Council · Meeting of January 20, 2026
LEOMINSTER — City Council defers municipal aggregation decision pending legal review. At-Large Councillor Brandon L. Robbins urged a public hearing on the matter, while At-Large Councillor Susan Chalifoux Zephir noted that residents have complained about rising tax and utility bills.
Councillors raised questions about the City Council's authority to enter such an agreement. Council President Claire M. Freda said the council must address two issues before proceeding: procedural authority and whether the Mayor supports the initiative.
The Ways & Means Committee voted 3-0 to support the chairs' recommendation for additional time to seek guidance from KP Law.
