Leominster Council approves appointments and emergency appropriations

Leominster City Council approves emergency appropriations, expedites two appointments. In unanimous votes, the council authorized approximately $349,500 in emergency spending from the Stabilization Fund, including $250,000 for fire safety overtime, $50,000 for paramedic overtime, $35,000 for census mailing, and $6,500 for planning expenses, plus $8,004.37 from prior celebrations funding. Council President Claire M.
Freda invoked an emergency preamble to approve Diane Reardon as Interim Assistant City Clerk. The council unanimously confirmed Ed Vowles, a DPW employee, to the Doyle Field Commission. Three zoning petitions and a utility permit were deferred, with public hearings set for February.
The Stabilization Fund balance stands at $21.6 million.
