Leominster Finance Committee approves $4.2M in capital appropriations

Leominster Finance Committee approves $4.2 million in capital and operational appropriations. Finance Committee Chair Mark C. Bodanza presided over appropriation votes from Mayor Dean J.

Mazzarella, including $868,221 for water infrastructure and $725,157 for sewer improvements. The committee allocated $250,000 to capital reserves for a future fire engine purchase and $1,323,505 across multiple department accounts for building maintenance, public safety communications, police, and other departments. Councilor Susan Chalifoux Zephir dissented on the $175,000 Gallagher Building appropriation for elevator repairs and lighting upgrades after questioning negotiated prices, voted against a $50,000 paramedics overtime allocation, and abstained on $8,000 for trail maintenance.
