Leominster Hispanic Heritage Event Set for Saturday
LEOMINSTER — The city's calendar lists a Leominster Hispanic Heritage Event for Saturday, August 29, the top new item on an otherwise quiet 24 hours in town, alongside a fresh preschool waitlist notice from the school district and a run of early-September dates opening up at the library and in the schools.

Leominster Public Schools reopened its waitlist for tuition-based peer slots in the Bennett Preschool program for the 2026-2027 school year. Children must turn three by or before August 31, 2026, to join the list, and families can call the Bennett Preschool office at 978-534-7704 for details.

COMING UP
The Leominster Public Library opens its fall season next week: Chess Club meets Monday, August 31, from 7 to 8:45 p.m., and September 1 brings a cluster of new offerings, including an English Conversation Class from 10 to 11 a.m., an Alzheimer and Dementia Caregivers Support Group from 6 to 8 p.m., the start of the Teen Fall Reading Program and Teen Writing Contest, and a "Meet and Greet with Penny the Cockapoo" for kids from 6 to 7 p.m. Chair Yoga for Pain and Stress Relief follows September 2 at 5:30 p.m.
In the schools, Lincoln and Bennett hold orientation September 1, Priest Street holds orientation September 3, and Frances Drake holds kindergarten orientation September 3 in two sessions, 10 a.m. for last names A through L and 2 p.m. for M through Z. There is no school districtwide on September 4.
