Leominster's Italian Festival Opens Saturday Downtown

LEOMINSTER — Leominster's annual Italian Festival opens downtown Saturday, Aug. 1, as City Hall also pushes ahead on the Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project and rolls out new guidance for home-based businesses.

Leominster City Hall posted an update this week on the Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project, pointing residents to details on the components of the ongoing infrastructure effort, according to the city's website. The project falls under Mayor Dean Mazzarella's administration.

The city also published a new set of frequently asked questions on home businesses, spelling out the parameters residents must follow to operate a business out of their home, per the city website.

Leominster's Italian Festival opens downtown Saturday, Aug. 1, according to the city's event calendar — one of the first entries on August's slate of community gatherings.

At the Leominster Public Library, 30 West Street, artist Gregory Maichack leads a chalk pastel jellyfish painting workshop for teens Aug. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. The library also hosts an Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregiver's Support Group on Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m., alongside its regular English Conversation Class that morning.

COMING UP

National Night Out returns Aug. 4. The Downtown Sounds concert series is back for two more weekends, Aug. 7-8 and Aug. 14-15. The Doyle Field Commission meets Aug. 4, and two public hearings — 05-27 and P 01-27 — are scheduled for Aug. 10. At the library, the Leominster Writing Group and Chess Club both meet Aug. 3.
