Leominster Schools Warn Families of First Student Bus Strike

DATELINE — LEOMINSTER Leominster Public Schools posted an urgent notice on its website this weekend headlined "Important Information Regarding the First Student Bus Strike," alerting families to a labor dispute involving the district's bus contractor. The posting did not spell out the scope or expected duration of the disruption.

The district's home page carried the First Student strike notice as its most prominent banner as of Sunday, directing families to watch district communications for updates on busing. No additional details on which routes or schools might be affected were posted in the coverage window.

Separately, Bennett Preschool has reopened its waitlist for tuition-based peer slots for the 2026-2027 school year. The program is open to Leominster residents only, and children must turn 3 by Aug. 31, 2026, to join the list. Families interested can call the Bennett Preschool office at 978-534-7704.

The Leominster Public Library has two new drop-in kids' programs on the calendar this week. A Kindergarten Celebration Story-Walk runs throughout the day Sunday, Aug. 10, and "A Tree's Life," a nature-focused program for kids, is set for Monday, Aug. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m.
