Leominster Schools Warn Families of First Student Bus Strike
Leominster Public Schools posted an urgent alert atop its homepage this week warning families of a strike involving First Student, the district's busing contractor, just weeks before classes resume for the 2026-2027 year.

The district flagged the labor dispute in a banner headlined "IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE FIRST STUDENT BUS STRIKE," posted directly beneath its mission statement on leominsterps.org. The notice arrives after the district spent the summer updating individual school bus schedules for Fall Brook, Johnny Appleseed, Leominster High School, Northwest and Samoset, each revised as recently as July 10.
Separately, Bennett Preschool has opened its waitlist for tuition-based peer slots for the 2026-2027 school year. The program is open to Leominster residents only, and children must turn three by Aug. 31, 2026, to qualify. Families interested can call the Bennett Preschool office at 978-534-7704.

The Leominster Public Library's Literary Leominster Book Club meets Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The library's teen calendar also shows two sessions of Teen Tournament Tuesday, scheduled for Aug. 18 and Aug. 25, marked canceled, while a new Teen Custom Jenga session has been added for Friday, Aug. 21.
