Library's Busy Summer Slate Anchors Quiet Week in Leominster

LEOMINSTER — With no new town hall press releases or school district announcements in the past day, the Leominster Public Library's crowded slate of dated summer programming — a "Hikes Through History" talk Tuesday evening and a chalk-pastel painting session with visiting artist Gregory Maichack later in the week — stood out as the town's most concrete news.

TOWN HALL

The city's Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project continues to generate updates on the municipal website, though no new milestone or timeline was posted in the past day. Also on the city's events calendar: a ribbon-cutting for a new Starbucks location is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, part of a steady run of downtown commercial activity following this week's opening of the Downtown Public Parking Garage.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Leominster Public Library's summer calendar is in full swing. On Wednesday, July 22, adults can attend "Hikes Through History" from 6 to 7 p.m., while younger patrons have "Home By the Sea Story and Craft" at 10 a.m. and a "Glass Framed Mosaics" session at 2:30 p.m. The library's teen and kids' slate stays busy into the following week, including a chalk-pastel seahorse painting workshop with artist Gregory Maichack on Thursday, July 23, and animal-sculpture and bubble-show programs the following Monday, July 27, with artist Julie Harrold and Circus Dynamics, respectively.

Elsewhere in town, Sholan Farms is hosting its "Cruising and Crops" festival Wednesday, July 22, and the Downtown Sounds concert series continues its run with shows Friday, July 24, Saturday, July 25, and Friday, July 31.
