Leominster Schools Warn of First Student Bus Strike

LEOMINSTER — Leominster Public Schools posted an urgent notice warning families about a strike involving First Student, the district's bus contractor, just weeks before the new school year begins, while City Hall announced the long-awaited downtown public parking garage has officially opened.

The Downtown Public Parking Garage is now open, the city announced on its website, giving drivers a new option in the business district. City Hall also posted new FAQs covering the Flamingo Express program, though further details were not included beyond the notice itself.

SCHOOLS

Leominster Public Schools posted a prominent alert titled "Important Information Regarding the First Student Bus Strike" on its homepage, signaling a labor dispute involving the district's busing contractor as the 2026-2027 school year approaches. The district did not post additional specifics beyond the alert itself; families are directed to the district's bus information pages for updates. Separately, the Bennett Preschool office opened its waitlist for tuition-based peer slots for the 2026-2027 school year, open to Leominster residents whose children turn three by August 31, 2026.

The Leominster Public Library's adult programming continues to expand, with Film Night for Adults set for Thursday, July 30, and a new Blockbuster Book Boxes for Adults offering launching August 1. The Leominster Writing Group is scheduled to meet August 3, giving local writers a recurring monthly gathering.
